Did you ever watch Craft Corner Deathmatch? It wasn't super popular but it was a rare craft game show and the tag line at the end was "its cheaper and easier just to buy stuff". And I totally agree with that. But its way less fun.
You don't get the joy and frustration that comes with making something. You don't get to go through the step by step process and start with something that is nowhere near what you want and work it through to get something out of it. And listen, I understand its not all free time and sunshine out there. I struggle to keep myself going in projects all the time. But I do think its worthwhile to take a but of time to work something creative. So yes makers gonna make just for fun.
